Privacy Policy for Zunexa

This Privacy Policy explains how the Zunexa Chrome extension ("Zunexa", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the extension.

1. Information Zunexa Processes

Zunexa stores user-created data to provide core features such as new tab customization, notes, tasks, and screenshot editing. This may include:

  • Quick notes and tasks you create.
  • Shortcuts, groups, settings, themes, and preferences.
  • Temporary screenshot data when you use the capture feature.

2. Where Data Is Stored

  • chrome.storage.local: stores data locally on your device.
  • chrome.storage.sync: stores supported settings in your Chrome profile for sync across signed-in Chrome browsers.

Zunexa does not require account creation and does not intentionally collect personal identity information such as your full name, phone number, or government ID.

3. Data Sharing and Selling

Zunexa does not sell your personal data. Zunexa does not transfer your extension data to our own servers for sale, profiling, or advertising.

4. External Services

To display website icons (favicons) for your saved shortcuts, Zunexa fetches icons from DuckDuckGo's favicon service (icons.duckduckgo.com). Only the domain name of each shortcut (e.g. "github.com") is sent — no personal information, browsing history, or identifiers are transmitted. DuckDuckGo's privacy policy applies: duckduckgo.com/privacy.

Zunexa may also open third-party websites when you use search or shortcut features. Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

5. Permissions Use

Zunexa requests Chrome permissions only to enable extension features, including:

  • storage: save your preferences and content.
  • activeTab: access the current tab for the "Add To Folder" and screenshot capture features.
  • sessions: restore recently closed tab/window feature.
  • scripting: functionality required by screenshot capture/edit flows.
  • bookmarks: import your existing Chrome bookmarks as shortcuts.
  • search: perform web searches using your default search engine.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains in Chrome storage until you delete it, clear browser data, uninstall the extension, or overwrite it. You can remove data through Zunexa settings and Chrome extension controls.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to reduce privacy and security risks. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

8. Children's Privacy

Zunexa is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
